JASON Akermanis is fully expecting the ribbing that will surely be coming his way the next time he sees his Western Bulldogs teammates. Never one to shy away from acknowledging his own abilities, Akermanis has been telling his fellow players all about his prowess behind the steering wheel.

Yesterday, he had his chance to walk the talk but unfortunately things did not go to plan after rolled his car during the warm-up lap of the race. The car landed back on its wheels and Akermanis was helped out shaken but unhurt.

The Bulldogs star was driving in the Mini challenge series, which is being held as support to this weekend's round of the V8 Supercars championship at Symmons Plains in Tasmania, when he lost control of the car in wet and slippery conditions as he was swerving from side to side to warm his car's tyres.

"I was just warming up the tyres and overdid it going left and just had a bit too much speed. I spun and hit the ditch and when it hit (that) it started to roll," a sheepish Akermanis said. "I was trying to do the right thing and there was not really much more that I could have done except for maybe not turn as hard. Oh well, that's life.

"I'm sure I will (cop some ribbing) as you usually do. If I hadn't stuffed up I would have finished dead last anyway, but you never know. The boys will be into me because I really like to think I can do some good things driving, and unfortunately no one got to see if I could."

Akermanis, who had qualified for the first of three races this weekend at the rear of the field, said he had not been injured.

He was unsure whether the car would be able to be repaired for today's scheduled races.

Akermanis' wife Megan was a guest on the racetrack commentary when the accident occurred.

"I wanted to just put the things down and get out of there to make sure he was OK. That was my main concern," she said.
