Summary Carlton can sometimes rely too much on too few, and this week St Kilda could be forced into the same predicament. The Blues' forward line is dominated by Brendan Fevola and their fortunes virtually rise and fall on his form. But St Kilda's ranks have been thinned as well, especially in defence where Matt Maguire, Max Hudghton and Sam Fisher are all out. Complicating their worries is the loss of midfield star Lenny Hayes. At least the Saints can take some solace from their recent record against the Blues, having won the last seven clashes between the two sides by an average of 63 points. Key Captain Lance Whitnall showed signs of a return to form with three goals last week in the high-scoring loss to Brisbane. And the Saints' lack of an obvious match-up for Fevola could swing the contest Carlton's way.
