NORTH MELBOURNE coach Dean Laidley is not counting on Adam Goodes continuing his poor run of form when Sydney and the Roos meet on Sunday.

"We have no control over that, absolutely no control," Laidley said of Adam Goodes's indifferent performances.

"We'll go in with our set plans for Adam like we will for a number of other players. I don't think we'll get too concerned about Adam Goodes.

"They are a very even football side, and I think that has been their strength for a number of years."

Suspended and injured Barry Hall's absence provides some relief for a North Melbourne defence weakened by injury to the athletic Josh Gibson and suspension of the hard-checking Daniel Pratt. Half-back Jess Sinclair is a possible inclusion.

"We'll have to put our thinking caps on in the match committee and make sure we come up with a defence that can really stand up this weekend," said Laidley, who anticipates a tough battle between two of the competition's most experienced midfields.

"We are playing a very even football side who play a hard, uncompromising style of football. We feel if we can match that we'll give ourselves an opportunity to win the game."

The Swans named a 25-man squad yesterday, with coach Paul Roos sticking by his decision to give Peter Everitt another week in the reserves.

Roos added Jesse White, Tadhg Kennelly and Ben Mathews to the team that lost to Geelong last Saturday. The squad will be trimmed to 22 after training this afternoon.
