TOM Lonergan's manager will meet Geelong this week in the hope of concluding stalled negotiations over the forward's pending two-year deal.
While Anthony McConville said yesterday it was not a fait accompli that Lonergan would remain with the Cats, it is believed that the two parties must simply settle on financial terms now that the trade period was over.
"Tom's away at the moment, but I'll speak to (football manager) Neil Balme some time during the week and find out where they are with things now that trading's over. We need to sit down and sort it out," said McConville.
"I don't want to pre-empt anything. We've got an open mind and Neil knows where we sit with it and I know where Neil sits, so we'll revisit it and see what's on the table during the week and Tom will need to make a decision on what he wants to do.
"They came to us about five weeks ago with some general numbers and we were happy to let things slide until the end of the year.
"Now they should know more about where they sit and how much they can offer, so we'll take another look at it."
Meanwhile, North Melbourne is yet to sign Leigh Harding for 2009, with the reborn defender hoping for a two-year contract and the Roos offering a single-year deal.
"He finished ninth in their best-and-fairest this year, he's had the best season he's ever had at the club and he's re-invented himself as a really handy player running off half-back and through the midfield," said McConville.
"Leigh's 27, he hasn't lost any pace and he just wants to make sure that he gets every opportunity from a contract point of view and that's what we want, we want two years."
