BRISBANE Lions chief executive Michael Bowers said yesterday that the arrival of a second AFL team in Queensland by 2010 was nothing for the Lions to fear.

Bowers said the Lions understood the ambition to expand. He said there might even be benefits for the Lions.

"There'll definitely be more discussion and coverage of the AFL if there is another team in this part of the world, which would be a good thing. You would expect a rivalry to start up, an intense competition between the two that could lead to bigger crowds," Bowers said.

"But can the region support two teams? That's the $64 million question. We don't know."
