Co-captain Brett Kirk produced a stunning third-quarter effort to spark Sydney to a 35-point victory over North Melbourne in tonight's AFL elimination final at ANZ Stadium.
The Swans won 17.8 (110) to North's 11.9 (75).
Trailing by 10 points at halftime, Sydney set up their win by kicking eight goals to North's four in the third quarter to be 14 points ahead at three-quarter time as Kirk gathered 12 possessions in the term.
Barry Hall's third goal early in the last quarter in greasy conditions and further goals to Kieren Jack and Jarred Moore made it party time for the Swans.
Defender Ted Richards cashed in with a booming goal on the run at the 15-minute mark as the Swans ran away with an easy win.
Hall, Jack and Adam Goodes all kicked three goals for the Swans. Shannon Grant, in his 301st and last game, kicked two goals for North as did Brent Harvey, Ed Lower and David Hale.
The match drew an embarrassingly small crowd of 19,127 to raise doubts over the Sydney market's ability to support a second AFL team in 2012.
That figure beat the previous smallest finals crowd in Sydney of 36,076 in 1998 at the Swans' qualifying final against the St Kilda at the SCG.
Sydney will play Western Bulldogs in next Friday's semi-final at the MCG.
North's defeat continued their poor recent history in finals, they've lost six of their past seven.
It was a sorry end to their campaign after appearing certainties for a top-four finish before the shock loss to Port Adelaide in round 22.
Small forwards Brent Harvey and Grant had kicked two goals each in the first half to give North a 10-point lead at the main break, 6.4 (40) to 4.6 (30) in wet and greasy conditions.
Harvey's two goals, including a controversial soccer goal when the ball appeared to have already crossed the line, handed the Kangaroos a 14-point break at quarter-time.
Tall forwards David Hale and Drew Petrie also kicked goals for the Kangaroos in the first quarter as the Swans wasted opportunities.
But Jack opened the scoring with a long running goal for Sydney in the second minute of the second quarter.
Ryan O'Keefe took a fine mark and his second goal of the match cut North's lead to less than a kick.
Grant replied for the Kangaroos against his former side with a fine goal on the run and toed another one through from a loose ball in the goalsquare to give North an edge at the main break.
Hall and Goodes marked strongly and kicked four of Sydney's eight goals in their amazing third-quarter recovery.
Ed Lower produced two quick goals for the Kangaroos midway through the third term but Goodes was at his athletic best and North's defence had no answers.
