HAWTHORN midfielder Luke Hodge will miss Sunday's game against West Coast after accepting a one-match suspension for striking Richmond's Brett Deledio.

The Hawks opted not to contest the charge, which could have left Hodge sidelined for two weeks had the tribunal upheld the original charge.

The AFL match review panel cited Hodge for striking Deledio with an elbow during the second quarter of the Hawks' 29-point loss last Sunday. Hodge will have 71.38 demerit points hanging over him through September.

The Hawks have 10 players with points accrued, although Grant Birchall's points will be wiped off after another two weeks. Lance Franklin, Sam Mitchell, Campbell Brown and Shane Crawford will all face harsher-than-usual penalties if they transgress.

The tribunal did not sit last night after Carlton's Simon Wiggins accepted a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his record for charging North Melbourne's Leigh Harding.

Port Adelaide's Peter Burgoyne also accepted a reprimand and 93.75 points for engaging in rough conduct against Collingwood's Shane O'Bree at AAMI Stadium last Friday night. Port's Justin Westhoff and Collingwood's Nick Maxwell accepted $900 fines for wrestling each other.
