GRAND final tickets will be 9 per cent more expensive this year, with the cheapest tickets costing $159.50.
The AFL yesterday announced its admission prices for the 2007 finals series, with tickets for preliminary finals and the grand final rising by 7 per cent and 9 per cent respectively.
The cheapest grand final tickets for standing room or a restricted view will cost $159.50, up $12.50 from last year.
But, as promised by the AFL earlier this year, ticket prices for the first two weeks of the finals have been frozen. The cost of a seat at the opening six finals elimination, qualifying and semi-finals will stay the same as last year. A standard adult ticket for a match at the MCG in the first week of the finals will cost $41.70.
In week two, a standard seat at the MCG will cost $42.90 and $71.40 in week three.
At the Telstra Dome, standard seats will cost $37.80 in week one, $42.90 the following week and $71.40 in week three.
The biggest rise in the 2007 regime is for premium seats, up $16.30 to $205.30.
The cost of taking a family for the opening week at the MCG or the Telstra Dome costs from $80 to $90.
AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou said the price freeze for the opening six finals followed the AFL's decision to freeze general admission prices for the 2007 season at 2006 levels.
Mr Demetriou said the AFL wanted to ensure prices remained affordable. "We are currently on track to achieve record attendances this year and we believe the freezing of AFL prices for tickets in the first two weeks of the finals will encourage all supporters of the final eight teams to experience these showcase matches," he said in a statement.
