HAVING decided on Neale Daniher to lead its football department and Michael Voss as an assistant coach, West Coast is expected to settle the future of midfielder Daniel Kerr in a fortnight.
As the Eagles announced Daniher as the new general manager of football operations, Kerr's management confirmed the club would discuss Kerr's contractual situation and future plans in the days after West Coast's final match of the season.
Kerr's manager, Colin Young, said he would meet with West Coast chief executive Trevor Nisbett.
Kerr is contracted to the Eagles for 2009, but has long been considered to be "in play" for a trade.
The All-Australian has indicated that he wants a long-term deal for four or five seasons, and stated that he was happy to remain at West Coast.
The Eagles maintain that Kerr is a required player and, as he is under contract, are under no obligation to trade him.
Several clubs have registered interest in Kerr in the belief he could seek a trade to a Melbourne-based club.
West Coast, meanwhile, cited Daniher's "impeccable character" and blend of coaching and administrative experience as the reasons it had hired the former Melbourne coach as general manager football operations.
"He is a man of impeccable character, someone who will add great value to our football club as we begin our resurgence as a powerful force in the AFL," Nisbett said.
Daniher said the Eagles were well placed to "rebound quickly" from a poor season.
Previous football operations chief Trevor Woodhouse had requested the role be split and has kept the list management and contracts functions, with Daniher focusing on "team and operational components".
