BRISBANE Lions spearhead Daniel Bradshaw, the club's last surviving Brisbane Bear following the retirement on Tuesday of Nigel Lappin, is set to cap off a remarkable year at the Gabba on Saturday when he plays his 200th game against Carlton.
Bradshaw has made an astonishing recovery from a knee reconstruction last year to notch career-best figures this season, kicking a personal best 67 goals.
He is currently third in the Coleman Medal behind Lance Franklin (94 goals) and Brendan Fevola (90).
Bradshaw said his form was a result of being left at full-forward, after spending much of his earlier career switching between the half-back and half-forward lines.
"I guess I've been a little bit inconsistent over the years; I think this year I've probably had my best year because I've been in the one spot," Bradshaw said.
"I've been moved around pretty much in previous years with (Alastair) Lynch and (Jonathan) Brown and a few other boys."
Bradshaw said his knee injury, sustained in the 2007 pre-season, could well end up prolonging his career.
"It's definitely freshened me up mentally and physically. Just to have that year off helped the body, I was able to fix a few other things up, and I guess just being away from the club freshened the mind up as well."
Bradshaw, 30 in November, still has another year to run on his contract and predicted he was likely to continue beyond that.
"Depending on how I'm playing, how the body feels, I guess how mentally you feel as well, I guess if you're playing well, you'll probably play on."
He will become Brisbane's 25th player to reach the 200-game milestone, and while Saturday's milestone is an honour for Bradshaw, he said the need for a win against Carlton would override any personal emotions.
"We need to win the next few games, and that's all we're going to be focused on," Bradshaw said.
"If we don't win this weekend it's fair to say we won't be playing finals."
