ONLY 59 days ago, Hawthorn beat Melbourne by 104 points at the MCG.
By late Sunday afternoon, after the two sides have met again, Demons coach Dean Bailey expects to have a better idea of whether his side has learnt any valuable lessons since round one.
"We (were) uncompetitive and comprehensively beaten (and) we cannot allow that to happen again," Bailey said before training at the Junction Oval yesterday.
"This is a great chance to play against, you could argue, the best team in the competition at the moment so it's a great challenge for us.
"We've got to be competitive (and) in the first round, we weren't. We've got a lot to prove," he said. "We've been consistent in what we've been doing, consistent in trying to improve our skill level and consistent in evaluating them (the players) fairly on what they're doing."
Adem Yze, Ben Holland, Matthew Whelan and Chris Johnson are all in the mix for selection after Sandringham's 152-point win over Tasmania in the VFL last weekend.
Yze, whose only senior game this year came in round one, had 32 disposals and kicked two goals, Holland kicked four goals and had 18 disposals, while Johnson picked up 34 touches off half-back.
